The Brazilian Taekwondo Federation, which oversees the country’s Olympic presence in the sport, made public Silva’s request to compete in the 2016 games held in Rio de Janeiro. “Everyone knows that for a high performance athlete, the Olympic games are the dream of every athlete, and so it would be no different with me,” wrote Silva, according to a federation press release (via Google translate).
