Jimi Manuwa KRAKOW, Poland – UFC light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa was nearly kept from Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 64 by a bad knee injury that prevented him from sparring one month prior to his co-headliner opposite Jan Blachowicz. “I tore my meniscus and MCL and ACL, as well,” Manuwa told MMAjunkie following his unanimous decision in the night’s co-headliner at Tauron Arena in Krakov, Poland. “They told me I shouldn’t fight.” While doctors didn’t win the previous round with Manuwa, the 35-year-old Brit said his next bout is corrective surgery and rehabilitation. “It was a big decision for me and the team, but we had to go through with it,” Manuwa said. The time on the bench did Manuwa (15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) no favors when it came time to throw hands with Blachowicz (18-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC), a former KSW star who came into the fight on the strength of a six-fight win streak, including a first-round TKO of Ilir Latifi this past October.
