Melvin Manhoef Melvin Manhoef has no illusions about what he’s going to do when he steps into the cage, and neither does anyone else. In a sport that’s about as reliable as the weather in Ohio, it’s assured Manhoef will swing heavy leather until he or his opponent goes down – hard. This past November, it was the former. For the 11th time in his career as a kickboxer and MMA fighter, he was knocked out, taking a counter from Joe Schilling that laid him out on the canvas. Manhoef knows good and well he’s sacrificing his body when he fights the way he does. And yet, to the 38-year-old veteran, it’s all worth it.
