Anderson SIlva UFC officials today announced that Anderson Silva has been removed as a coach on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4,” and fellow Brazilian superstar Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will serve in his place. According to the UFC’s announcement , Nevada State Athletic Commission officials “requested that Silva cease participation in the series as a result of his temporary suspension following the recently announced preliminary results of his January 9 pre-fight drug test for UFC 183.” Silva has not yet officially been suspended by the NSAC but is expected to receive an initial temporary suspension at the commission’s next meeting, which takes place Feb. 17. While complying with the commission’s request, UFC officials again voiced their support for “The Spider.” “The UFC and Globo, the show’s Brazilian broadcaster, respect the commission’s decision, which will allow Silva to focus his attention on the matter before the commission,” the statement reads. “Anderson Silva has been an amazing champion and a true ambassador of the sport of mixed martial arts and the UFC will continue to support him as this process unfolds.” UFC President Dana White previously indicated Silva would remain as coach on the series , giving the former UFC middleweight champion the benefit of the doubt while the NSAC continued its investigation into Silva’s failed UFC 183 pre-fight drug test. However, the promotion has now reversed course at the commission’s request.
