Ryan Bader Saturday night at UFC on FOX 14 won’t be the first time that Phil Davis and Ryan Bader have competed against each other in combat sports. The two met on the mats once during their collegiate wrestling days with Davis picking up the victory. “I’m a couple years older than him and we went into the national tournament and ran across him. I didn’t really know who he was then or his skill level and got his leg a few times and put it up in the air and I was surprised how flexible he was,” Bader (18-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) recalled while speaking to MMAjunkie Radio. “I put it way up there and I couldn’t take him down, he ended up beating me in a match there.” When the two meet in Stockholm for their light heavyweight clash, the focus will be on the MMA version of Davis (13-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC), not on Bader trying to get a win back from his NCAA days, “We’re all prideful for sure. We’d like to get that back, but I don’t dwell over that.
