Phil “CM Punk” Brooks Cathal Pendred was awfully fortunate to walk away with a win at Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 59 event, but afterward, he had a response to one of his critics. During a FOX Sports 1-televised preliminary-card bout at Boston’s TD Garden, Pendred was backed by many of his fellow Irishmen, who arrived in healthy numbers and were a loud presence throughout the event. Perhaps it’s one of the reasons the judges inexplicably scored the fight for Pendred (16-2-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who seemed well on his way to a unanimous-decision loss to welterweight Sean Spencer (12-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC).
