BOSTON – It was far from a dominant victory, but Gleison Tibau did just enough to edge out Norman Parke in a workmanlike effort over the course of three close rounds. Thanks in part to his edge in takedowns and his solid defense, Tibau (33-10 MMA, 16-8 UFC) notched the split decision victory (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) over a game but not terribly effective Parke (20-3-1 MMA, 4-1-1 UFC). The lightweight bout took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 59 event at Boston’s TD Garden. It was the first of four main-card bouts to air on FOX Sports 1. This battle of the southpaws didn’t exactly turn into a slugfest, nor is it likely to be on anyone’s year-end lists as far as exciting fights go.
