BOSTON – Shortly after Lorenz Larkin dropped John Howard in the first round, he looked over to referee Herb Dean as if to ask whether the ref had seen enough violence for one fight. He hadn’t, so Larkin (15-4 MMA, 2-4 UFC) gave him a little more, battering a wounded and woozy Howard (22-11 MMA, 6-6 UFC) with more lightning fast punches until Dean was forced to stop it at 2:17 of round one, awarding Larkin the TKO victory. The welterweight bout took place at today’s UFC Fight Night 59 event at Boston’s TD Garden. It was the fifth of six preliminary bouts to air on FOX Sports 1 ahead of main-card bouts on the same channel. In his debut at welterweight, Larkin looked leaner and quicker than ever, so much so that it soon became apparent that he had a significant hand speed advantage over Howard.
