After some intense buildup to one of the sport’s most anticipated bad-blood grudge matches, Jon Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC) ultimately earned a convincing unanimous-decision victory over Cormier (15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena to defend his light-heavyweight title for the eighth time (watch the Jones vs. Cormier video highlights ). The fight featured two of the division’s top talents, and Cormier, a two-time Olympian who had a run of MMA success at heavyweight before his move down to 205 pounds, was seen as one of the dominant champion’s sternest challenges.
