Frankie Edgar once again validated himself as a top featherweight contender with an utter domination of Cub Swanson in the UFC Fight Night 57 headliner. Edgar (18-4-1 MMA, 12-4-1 UFC) implemented a relentless wrestling-oriented strategy before he finally brought an end to Swanson’s (21-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC) winning streak with a last-second submission in the FOX Sports 1-televised contest at Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX. The 33-year-old already has a loss on his record to divisional kingpin Jose Aldo, but that defeat came in his divisional debut almost two years ago. Edgar’s been campaigning for the rematch since the first fight, and the win over Swanson puts him within reach.
