Stephan Bonnar now admits fighting Tito Ortiz on three months’ notice after a two-year layoff was probably a bad idea. “I remember (fellow UFC Hall of Famer) Forrest (Griffin) telling me, ‘Dude, you’re going to fight in three months? What? You haven’t been in the gym at all,’” Bonnar told MMAjunkie Radio. “(I said), ‘Yeah, I can do it. Three months.’ “‘No, Stephan.’ Oh well.” Bonnar lost a split call to Ortiz in Bellator 131′s headliner at San Diego’s Valley View Casino and now says he’d rather get back into the gym for fun than cram for a grudge match that wasn’t really his to begin with.
