MEXICO CITY – The bloody appendage that was Leslie Smith’s left ear was a queasy spectacle for MMA fans, but for Jessica Eye , it was a target. “I saw blood, and I just kept going for it,” Eye said following her second-round TKO win over Smith in a women’s bantamweight bout on the pay-per-view main card of Saturday’s UFC 180. “Once I saw the blood, I just kept hitting the same spot. It was kind of a target for me.” That killer instinct paid off for Eye (11-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), who was ruled the victor at the 1:30 mark of the second frame when a doctor forbid Smith (7-6-1 MMA, 1-2 FC) from continuing after Eye’s punches nearly sheared off her ear.
