MEXICO CITY – When Gabriel Benitez locked his arm around Humberto Brown ‘s neck early in the third round of their fight, it looked like the type of choke attempt his corner had earlier told him to stop trying. When Brown (4-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC)fell back lifeless onto the mat, however, Benitez (17-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) looked awfully smart. A modified guillotine did what he couldn’t do in the first two rounds and earned him his first UFC win. The featherweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC 180 event at Mexico City Arena. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of the main card on pay-per-view. The fight’s official end came at the 0:30 mark of the third, shortly after Brown did what he’d done the majority of the fight: charge and expose his neck.
