Those were the two options on the table for Tate after a second consecutive octagon victory, she told MMAjunkie earlier this week while in Mexico City for promotional duties in support of Saturday’s UFC 180 event. “I’ve told the UFC I just want to get back up there to be the No. 1 contender and getting back into that title realm, and whoever they want me to fight to do that (is OK),” she said. On Wednesday, Tate (15-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) got one of them: a fight with McMann (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC 183 . Tate ultimately wants to work her way back into title contention, but the way she sees it, she doesn’t necessarily have to walk a straight line up the rankings to climb the ladder.
