In a pay-per-view main-card bout at Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Maldonado (22-7 MMA, 5-4 UFC) rallied from a near-disastrous first round and eventually pounded out fellow light heavyweight Hans Stringer (22-6-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) for a second-round TKO victory (watch the Maldonado vs. Stringer video highlights ).
