UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo successfully defended his championship for the seventh time with a unanimous decision victory over Chad Mendes in the UFC 179 headliner at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanazinho Gymnasium. The contest marked the first rematch in 145-pound title history after Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) and Mendes (16-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) first met in January 2012.
