UFC featherweight Niklas Backstrom thinks about his mother when asked the question of whether his family will watch him fight on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 53. It’s a show on his home turf, after all, as the event takes place at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, about a 10-hour drive from his hometown of Lulea in Sweden. But Backstrom isn’t the kind of guy who leans on his relatives for support when he’s competing professionally. Other fighters talk about a hometown advantage and feeling the love of the crowd, but Backstrom (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) doesn’t want to feel any of that from his family if he can help it.
