UFC women’s bantamweight Cat Zingano apologizes for brevity in her answers to questions about her upcoming fight. Right now, giving good sound bites is not her top concern. “I’m just trying to get through this fight, dude,” Zingano tells MMAjunkie. “After the fight, I know I’ll be more responsive. Right now, you guys are catching me at a time when my focus is completely on moving forward and getting through what I need to get through and trying to get that ‘W.’ That’s it.” For Zingano, that’s the best way to move ahead after the roughest year of her professional and personal life. The former brought an ACL injury that benched her for more than a year and robbed her of a title shot against champ Ronda Rousey, while the latter forced her to grapple with the suicide of her husband, leaving her with a son, 8, to raise with the help of friends and family.
