Unfortunate news surfaced Monday when UFC officials announced a hand injury had forced middleweight champion Chris Weidman out of his scheduled UFC 181 title defense against Vitor Belfort. Weidman (12-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) suffered a hairline fracture in his left hand during a training session. As a result, the organization pushed back the Dec. 6 contest with Belfort (24-10 MMA, 13-6 UFC) to an unofficial date in February. The untimely injury forced Weidman to withdraw from a title defense for the second time this year. A knee issue forced him to push his showdown with Lyoto Machida from UFC 173 in May to UFC 175 in July
