He went on to became a defining voice of the sport, working for another series of high-profile promotions including EliteXC and Strikeforce, which also eventually folded in the fight to compete with the UFC. Ranallo, 44, is now a staple in boxing, having transitioned from play-by-play duties on Showtime MMA broadcasts to major boxing events. This past weekend, he on the mic for Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s rematch with Marcos Maidana, which ended in a comfortable decision for the still-undefeated “Money.” Although boxing is more and more the way he makes his living, Ranallo said he definitely hasn’t closed the door on MMA. “I will not allow it to close,” he told MMAjunkie Radio
