After nine fights inside the UFC Octagon, French middleweight Francis Carmont has been released by the organization. The 32-year-old Tristar Gym-trained Carmont released a statement on Wednesday via his official Facebook page. “I announce that after 6 win and 3 defeat, I am no longer a UFC fighter,” wrote Carmont. “However it is with determination that I will continue my career in combat sports.” Carmont made his promotional debut at UFC 137 in October 2011 and reeled off six consecutive wins, including victories over Chris Camozzi , Tom Lawler , Lorenz Larkin and Costas Philippou . He rose through the ranks, but his winning streak came to an end against title contender Ronaldo “Jaccare” Souza in February. He’s lost his last three fights, but sees his release as a wake-up call.
