LEDYARD, Conn. – Joe Lauzon (24-9 MMA, 11-6 UFC) and Michael Chiesa (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) went back and forth in a raucous fight to open UFC Fight Night 50’s main card before a cut forced the cageside doctor to stop the bout. Lauzon opened a massive gash in a bad area above Chiesa’s right eye and brought the bout to a close at the 2:14 mark of the second round. The lightweight bout opened up the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 50 event at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn. It aired on FOX Sports 1. Chiesa protested the stoppage and requested a rematch with Lauzon, who picked up his second straight UFC win after taking time away from this sport earlier this year as his newborn son underwent cancer treatment.
