LEDYARD, Conn. – Despite a spirited effort from Tateki Matsuda (10-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC), “The Ultimate Fighter 18″ veteran Chris Beal (10-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) toughed his way through obstacles and earned a unanimous decision. Matsuda, who briefly appeared on “The Ultimate Figheter 14,” punished the leg of his fellow reality-show vet over three rounds to the point where the veteran of “The Ultimate Fighter 18″ was in obvious pain, and yet his missteps in grappling allowed Beal to make up the deficit. The bantamweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 50 event at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn. It aired on FOX Sports 1. The final scores were 29-28 twice and 30-27 for Beal, who extended his unbeaten streak to 10 wins and picked up his second UFC victory after falling short on “TUF 18.” Beal frequently struggled to find his punching range and allowed his front leg to be tenderized by Matsuda, but he excelled when his opponent executed several sloppy takedowns
