(This story first appeared in Friday’s USA TODAY .) After 18 fights for his employer,  Danny Castillo is only now getting a chance to elevate his status to the next level of popularity in MMA. Castillo has had 10 fights in the UFC, and before that, he had eight for World Extreme Cagefighting before Zuffa LLC merged the two promotions. But on Saturday, Castillo gets his first co-main event – and he gets it in his backyard. UFC 177 takes place Sleep Train Arena (10 p.m. ET, pay-per-view) in Sacramento, Calif., the city Castillo has made home while training with the likes of UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw, and multi-time title challengers Urijah Faber, Chad Mendes and Joseph Benavidez.
