Dissanayake, a Houston gas station attendant, garnered some international fame this past month after foiling an armed robbery. Dubbed “The Karate Clerk,” Dissanayake came to the aid of a coworker who had returned from the bank and was jumped by a group of would-be thieves. Video of the July 10 incident, which saw Dissanayake unloading punches and kicks on the overmatched assailants , soon went viral and made the amateur MMA fighter a bit of a local celebrity
