TULSA – If nothing else, UFC newcomer and Nova Uniao product Valmir Lazaro (13-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) proved he could take a licking, and James Vick (6-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) was happy to give one. A one-year injury layoff didn’t benefit Vick in the cardio department, but he still outstruck his Brazilian foe to pick up a unanimous-decision win. The lightweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 49 event at BOK Center in Tulsa. It aired on FOX Sports 1 after prelims on FOX Sports 2 and UFC Fight Pass. The final scores were 29-28 twice and 30-27 for Vick, who earned his second UFC win. Lazaro saw an 11-fight winning streak snapped in his first octagon outing, but his gritty performance undoubtedly won him points with UFC brass
