After shuttering its women’s divisions in 2013, Bellator MMA is reestablishing its 145-pound weight class for females, and two notables are among the first signings. Officials today announced that former Strikeforce champion Marloes Coenen (21-6) and Invicta FC vet Julia Budd have signed with the promotion and will fight at a Bellator event later this year. However, today’s announcement didn’t address the possibility of Gina Carano , who’s also been a UFC target despite her five-year layoff, also joining the Bellator roster. Still, it’s good news for female fighters.
