So you’re head of the world’s largest MMA promotion, and 24 hours before a major event on network television, you learn that one of your headliners won’t fight because his opponent failed to make weight. Stressful day for UFC President Dana White, eh? Luckily for the UFC boss, it turned out to be a mean (but pretty funny) prank played by UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby and UFC on FOX 12 headliner Robbie Lawler . The prank took place following Friday’s weigh-ins at San Jose’s SAP Center, where fellow headliner Matt Brown (21-11 MMA, 12-5 UFC) failed to make weight but bizarrely won’t be fined or lose a potential title shot due to a commission error (watch the video below). Shelby, the matchmaker for the UFC’s lighter weight classes, informed White that Lawler (23-10 MMA, 8-4 UFC) would no longer fight in the FOX-televised main event, which earns the winner a title shot with champ Johny Hendricks, because of the weigh-in gaffe. Luckily for White, who appeared fooled for at least a few seconds, Shelby and Lawler eventually let him in on the joke
