Lightweight contender Michael Johnson on Friday was forced out of his UFC on FOX 12 bout against Josh Thomson due to injury. Bobby “King” Green quickly agreed to step up and take his place against “The Punk” on July 26 at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. That, however, left Abel Trujillo , whom Green was originally slated to fight on the same card, without an opponent. UFC officials quickly rectified that problem by enlisting Ross Pearson to face Trujillo, keeping him on the card. Pearson (15-7, 1 NC) is coming off of a highly controversial split decision loss to Diego Sanchez at the UFC Fight Night in Albuquerque, N.M., on June 7. Trujillo (12-5, 1 NC) is coming off back-to-back victories over Jamie Varner and Roger Bowling, trying to climb his way into title contention
