LAS VEGAS – UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo ‘s injury won’t keep him from a rematch with No. 1 contender Chad Mendes (16-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) for long, UFC President Dana White said tonight following The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale. Asked whether the recently victorious Frankie Edgar might step in for Aldo to face Mendes next month at UFC 176, White said, “Aldo is going to be out 45 days – the Mendes/Aldo fight can still happen.” According to his camp, Aldo (24-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) suffered a shoulder and cervical spine injury at the start of this month in training for UFC 176, which takes place Aug. 2 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. A follow-up exam will take place in late July, and doctors will determine his window of recovery
