Silva dodged a random UF 175 drug test this past month. He appeared before the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Tuesday to discuss incident that led to his removal from the UFC 175 card and a planned bout with Chael Sonnen. Silva, who said he was “happy to clarify things and say the truth,” told the commission he took diuretics, a banned substance, after anti-inflammatories that were prescribed for a wrist injury caused water retention. NSAC chair Francisco Aguilar recommended the NSAC move forward with a complaint, which could mean a suspension and fines for Silva, who wasn’t licensed at the time of his random test but was subject to random testing.
