VANCOUVER – When the UFC announced it would be holding an event on the same date and in the same state as Bellator MMA later this year, many speculated why. The organization has never scheduled a live event in such close proximity to the rival promotion, both in terms of date and physical location. That will change Sept. 5 when the UFC visits Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn., for UFC Fight Night 50, while Bellator 123 sets up shop at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville – about 10 miles apart. Outsiders wondered if the move was intentional by the UFC to create a head-to-head competition and see who comes out on top
