Back then, “Big” John McCarthy got bigger applause as a ref than did most of the fighters, Bruce Buffer didn’t quite know how to pronounce Arlovski’s home country of Belarus, and the UFC was spelling the future heavyweight champion’s last name “Orlovskiy.” But the then 21-year-old made a fast impression in his first UFC fight when he submitted Aaron Brink with an armbar just 55 seconds into the first round.
