Despite initial concerns that he might be concussed or have a fractured jaw , Erick Silva checked out okay after what turned out to be a precautionary trip to the local hospital in Cincinnati on Saturday night. Silva and Matt Brown put on an early candidate for Fight of the Year , but it was Silva who took the brunt of the punishment over the 12 minutes and 11 seconds that they fought. Though Silva landed some punishing shots at times, Brown unleashed a brutal combination of punches, elbows, and knees that totaled 161 strikes landed. He also found success on five out of five takedown attempts. When the fight was over, Silva remained on the canvas for quite some. After Brown left the Octagon, Silva was still there, eventually removed on a stretcher and transported to the hospital
