CINCINNATI – Dana White may not be quite ready to grant Matt Brown a title shot – yet, anyway – but he is pretty sure he’s got a brand new superstar on his hands. Brown (19-11 MMA, 12-5 UFC) on Saturday won his seventh straight fight in the UFC’s welterweight division with a “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night” TKO of Erick Silva (16-5 MMA, 4-4 UFC) in UFC Fight Night 40′s main event. The third-round win was nothing short of an instant classic, with Brown battling back from a bad spot in the first in which he nearly was finished, only to beat Silva up badly enough that he was carried from the octagon on a stretcher and sent to the hospital. After the fight, Brown was ready to state his case for a title shot in front of his home state fans in Ohio. And with six of his seven straight coming by knockout, including now four bonuses in his past three fights with Saturday’s double-dip, it’s hard to argue against him wanting a crack at the belt. Not one to match-make very often immediately following fights, White agreed Brown now is in some elite company in the division
