BALTIMORE – Anthony Johnson cast away any return-to-the-octagon jitters he may have had on Saturday and instead cast himself right into the light heavyweight title picture. Returning to the UFC for the first time since being released more than two years ago following multiple times missing weight as a light heavyweight and middleweight, Johnson (17-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) dominated Phil Davis (12-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) for a unanimous decision win. Johnson had been on a tear outside the UFC, mostly in his new home at light heavyweight. His win over Davis, who spent much of UFC 172 fight week talking trash about champion Jon Jones, may not get him an instant title shot, but it certainly put a stamp on his presence in the division.
