(This story first appeared in today’s USA TODAY .) On the subject of Ronda Rousey’s next opponent, the one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that, in a fair world, top contender Cat Zingano would get the next shot at the Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight title. What they disagree on is whether the UFC is such a world, or whether Zingano will be ready to go by the time the next window of opportunity opens in Rousey’s increasingly busy schedule. The champ is expected to begin filming a full-length film version of HBO’s Entourage in March, and she’ll likely be busy promoting her work in The Expendables 3 in the summer. Late summer “seems like a cool time” to fight, Rousey told reporters after dispatching Sara McMann via first round TKO at UFC 170, “but I might want to fight sooner than that.” As Rousey steamrolls through opponents, however, finding one who seems worthy of the challenge will only get tougher.
