JARAGUA DO SUL, Brazil – Middleweight Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza powered through an elbow injury suffered in training for his UFC Fight Night 36 co-headliner with Francis Carmont, but he’ll now need surgery to repair the damage. Souza (20-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who beat Carmont (22-8 MMA, 6-1 UFC) in a unanimous decision, afterward told MMAjunkie he needs arthroscopic surgery and will likely be on the shelf for six weeks. He didn’t say when he planned to undergo the procedure. “I’m going to have to clean my arm out of these [bone] fragments,” he said at the event’s post-fight presser. UFC Fight Night 36 took place at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil.
