UFC lightweight Yancy Medeiros failed his “UFC Fight Night 31: UFC Fight for the Troops 3” post-fight drug test in November. UFC officials confirmed with MMAjunkie that Medeiros (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) tested positive for marijuana metabolites and was suspended 90 days retroactive to the day of his Nov. 6 bout with Yves Edwards (42-20-1 MMA, 10-8 UFC). “UFC lightweight Yancy Medeiros tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his bout against Yves Edwards at UFC Fight for the Troops 3,” the organization’s statement read. “He was informed that his positive test violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. “He agreed to and served a 90-day suspension retroactive to the event, and must pass a drug test before receiving clearance to compete again.” As a result of the positive test, the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority has changed Medeiros’ first-round knockout win over Edwards to a no-contest.
