James T. Hayes Jr., a special agent in charge for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, recently discussed the organization’s latest efforts to combat UFC piracy. Hayes said the efforts target counterfeit merchandise and illegal streams of the UFC’s pay-per-view events, though hurdles remain. Although the UFC calculates its own estimates for loss revenue through piracy, Hayes shed some light on the department’s progress. “What I can tell you is that over the last three years since we started working with [the UFC], we’ve seized more than 20 websites of domains that were streaming illegally for free,” he told MMAjunkie.
