DULUTH, Ga. – If Louis Smolka was feeling any Octagon jitters for his first UFC fight, you wouldn’t know it. In a gritty three-round performance, he wore down Alpetkin Ozkilic on the feet and on the mat, nearly finishing him with strikes from full mount in the final seconds before ultimately running out of time and settling for a unanimous decision victory . The flyweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 35 event at Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. From early on it was clear that both men had come to scrap, as Smolka and Ozkilic spent the first round trading haymakers on the feet, with each man getting his licks in.
