The World Series of Fighting has scheduled Jan. 18 for its WSOF 8 event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., company officials announced on Wednesday. The MMA promotion’s eight installment will crown its first lightweight champion when Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante and Justin Gaethje headline the card, which is expected to broadcast on NBC Sports Network. Cavalcante (18-7-1, 1 N.C.) is fresh off a finish of UFC veteran Tyson Griffin at WSOF 4, getting the win by technical knockout in the third round. The fight with Gaethje will be a rematch of their original meeting at WSOF 2, a bout that saw Cavalcante sustaining a cut that forced a doctor’s stoppage in the first round. Gaethje (10-0) has an unblemished record in mixed martial arts
