LONDON – When Elise Reed heard a 30-27 score for Cory McKenna on Saturday, she probably had a brief moment of panic. After all, Reed was fighting in McKenna’s home country, and even though she thought she had done more than enough to win a decision, stranger things have happened. Reed outstruck McKenna and landed more than 60 percent of her total strikes, but Reed had three takedowns. When the other two scores were read, Reed (5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) got a pair of 29-28 nods, and that was enough for a split decision win over McKenna (6-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) on the prelims at UFC Fight Night 204 at The O2 in London. Reed probably wasn’t the only one surprised to hear a 30-27 score for McKenna. The sites tracked by MMA Decisions showed 14 of 16 outlets had the bout for Reed.
