UFC 267 has lost a champion – but an interim title fight could be made in his absence. Bantamweight titleholder Aljamain Sterling is out because of injury, but the hope is for his opponent, former champ Petr Yan , to remain on the card and fight for an interim title. Two people with knowledge of the situation confirmed Sterling’s withdrawal to MMA Junkie after an initial report from MMA Fighting on Saturday. The people asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. The current frontrunner to replace Sterling is Cory Sandhagen , who’s ranked No. 3 in the promotion’s official 135-pound rankings
