Rory MacDonald suffered one of the most controversial losses in recent memory on Thursday in the 2021 PFL 5 main event. MacDonald (22-7-1), a former Bellator champion and UFC welterweight contender, looked easily en route to going 2-0 in his PFL career in his regular season finale with Gleison Tibau (36-15) at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. But then the judges’ decision was read, and he left the cage a loser by split decision. It was a shocking result, as it seemed clear MacDonald had won the fight.
