Spike Carlyle now knows the reason behind one of MMA’s most important rules: Protect yourself at all times. “The Alpha Ginger” walked away from his opponent, Billy Quarantillo , before the bell signaled the end of their first round at UFC on ESPN 9 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Carlyle (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had top position on Quarantillo (14-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and decided to get up and walk away with seconds remaining in the round. With the time still ticking, Quarantillo took the opportunity to get up and strike Carlyle as he walked away.
