Back at UFC on ESPN+ 1, UFC president Dana White made one of the dumber statements of his illustrious tenure when he dismissed referee Kevin MacDonald as “a local ref” after Henry Cejudo’s win over T.J. Dillashaw was stopped in 32 seconds. MacDonald, in fact, is one of the best officials in the sport, with a keen knack for when to stop the fight and when to let ’em go. MacDonald also stays in the background and doesn’t call attention to himself, which is exactly what a good official is supposed to do, rather than put themselves in the limelight. Saturday night, MacDonald may have done his job a little bit  too  well.
