In February 2013, Eduardo Dantas knocked out his former teammate Marcos Galvao in the second round of their Bellator 89 scrap to successfully defend the promotion’s bantamweight belt for the second time. On Friday, at Bellator 156, Dantas (17-6-1 MMA, 7-3 BMMA) and Galvao (17-4 MMA, 7-2 BMMA) meet again under very different circumstances. Over three years have gone by. “Dudu” went from defending champ to title challenger. And his once-close relationship with Galvao has grown both emotionally and geographically distant.
